Rancilio Pod Conversion Kit for Pod-Adaptable Group Heads
This factory kit (handle NOT included) converts a newer, pod-adaptable Rancilio group head to run ESE-style coffee pods instead of ground coffee. It’s a genuine Rancilio kit (OEM 10705403), not a generic adapter, so every seal and plate is sized to match the group exactly.
SPECIFICATIONS
- Kit contents: 41×1.78mm Viton O-ring, group diffusion plate, 45×3.5mm NBR O-ring, instructions, pod filter basket, M5x12 group screw, group screen, and 2x PTFE spacers
- Maximum pod outside diameter: 48 mm (approx. 1-7/8″)
COMPATIBILITY
- Fits: Newer, pod-adaptable Rancilio group heads with removable shower screen plates (models built after roughly 2007). Pre-2007 groups with fixed, non-removable shower plates cannot accept this kit.
- Replaces: Rancilio OEM kit 10705403
- Works with: Rancilio’s dedicated pod portafilter, part V_2172 (a suitable replacement for 10705545), which Rancilio specifies as required alongside this kit
INSTALLATION
A moderately involved DIY job for an experienced home tinkerer, but most owners have a technician swap the diffusion plate and screen during a routine service visit.
PRO TIPS
- Only the double pod basket ships in this kit, if you run single-dose ESE pods, use the basket in “double” position with a single pod centered in the middle to avoid channeling.
- Before ordering, check whether your group head shower screen plate unscrews; if it’s riveted or fixed in place, your machine predates this kit and no adapter will make it pod-compatible.
